3rd Annual Buffalo Winterfest & Powder Keg Festival set for Feb 11th and 12th

BUFFALO, N.Y. – February 7, 2012 – Buffalo has experienced a winter like no other. Warm temperatures and rain has been a common occurrence this year replacing snow, ice and freezing readings on the thermometer. On Feb. 11th and 12th, the 3rd annual Buffalo Powder Keg Festival, part of the Buffalo Winterfest weekend, comes to downtown Buffalo, with more FREE fun than ever before.

1.31.12 - Red Bull brings the Butter to Buffalo
There’s something big coming to Niagara Square. And no, it is not a politically-charged drum circle inside a geodesic tent.

The Red Bull Butter Cup snowboard series will make an appearance in downtown Buffalo on Saturday, Feb. 11 as part of the third annual Buffalo Winterfest + Powder Keg Festival. An impressive 25 tons of snow will be piled into Niagara Square—that’s right, Buffalo, we’ve reached the point where we’re importing snow—to transform our mild-mannered downtown district into a winter wonderland where the best local athletes and amateurs will pound the powder to earn cash prizes and bragging rights.

1.31.12 - Snowman Building Challenge

Gather up all creativity you can and start building! We are looking for individuals or teams of up to ten people of all ages who want to build snowmen to earn prizes.

Prizes will be awarded for:
- Most Creative Snowman
- Buffalo-Themed Snowman
- Coolest Shaped Snowman

1.23.12 - Touch Football Tournament!

A Touch Football Winter Tournament will be organized by Topper Sports, LLC on Saturday February 11th in conjunction with the Buffalo Powderkeg Winter Festival

2 divisions of play:
1) competitive (D1 and D2 teams 10am start time, teams 1-8)
2) recreational (D3 and D4 teams 11:30 start time, teams 9-16)

1.20.12 - Volunteer for the 2012 Powder Keg Festival!
This years Buffalo Winterfest and Powder Keg Festival is coming up on February 11th and 12th. We are looking for your help to make this years event a success!  This years event has a new location with outdoor activities at Niagara Square as well as indoor activities in the newly renovated Statler City building.

We are looking for volunteers to work in Statler City in with cleanup, the food areas and the Kid's Zone. If you are interested in helping us out this year, please go to the link below to sign up.

1.12.12 Kick of the Powder Keg Festival at the Buffalo Winter Bash!


You are cordially invited to the 1st Annual Buffalo Winter Bash part of the Buffalo Winterfest at the newly renovated Statler City in Niagara Square.

The Buffalo Winter Bash is on February 10th from 6pm-9pm at Stater City, located at Niagara Square and Delaware Ave. There will be craft beer tastings available from several different breweries in the Grand Ballroom and wine tastings provided by local wineries from the Niagara and Erie Country wine trail in the Terrace Room.

1.5.12 - Big Changes for Buffalo Winterfest & Powder Keg Festival

Buffalo, NY (WKBW) -Buffalo's Powder Keg-Winterfest will have a different look and location for 2012. The event will be hosted around Niagara Square in the heart of Downtown Buffalo and Along Delaware Avenue. The festival, which celebrates Buffalo's winters, brought about 30,000 people last year and this year promises to be bigger and better.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Food is just part of the fun of Winterfest, but this year it's all being served up at a new location.

This year's Winterfest weekend in Buffalo will be very different from the last. That's right. The venue will be moving from Seneca Street, where the Skyway was turned into the ever popular sledding ramp, to Niagara Square.
